LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER at WSBC Kids or Students?

We believe that ministry volunteers have a lasting impact on the children, students, and their families we serve. Our relationship with them will represent the love of Christ for the sake of the gospel.  Because of this great responsibility before the Lord (James 3:1), we require all volunteers to complete a background check, meet specific qualifications and expectations , and be qualified to serve.  We feel it is important to communicate to you the qualifications for volunteers, the expectations we have for you while being a volunteer, and the great blessings you can look forward to as a ministry volunteer.
If you would like more information about becoming a Children’s and/or Youth Ministry volunteer, please contact Joel Sisson, Family Pastor; Aaron Hoesli, Youth Pastor; or the Church Office.
Every potential ministry volunteer at the Western Springs Baptist Church will participate in the following screening process.  
  • A Ministry Application which includes at least two references.
  • A Background Check 
    • Briefing on Child & Student Safety Procedures, 
    • Interview
  • As well as ongoing additional Ministry Training

Why should I volunteer at WSBC?
Volunteering helps you grow spiritually as you use your gifts to serve God and bless others in our church.  It strengthens our church family by allowing everyone to play a meaningful part by working together in ministry.  Serving builds relationships and gives us all a front row seat to witness how God is changing lives.

There are many opportunities to be involved with the Worship ministry.

How can I volunteer with wsbcKids?
There are so many opportunities to volunteer and serve the children and families of our church.
  • SUNDAYS:
    • Nursery (0-2yrs) & PreK (3-5yrs): Teachers and Helpers
    • K-2nd & 3rd-4th Grade: Teachers and Helpers
    • PTM: 5th-7th Grade PreTeen ministry: Teachers and Helpers
  • WEDNESDAYS:
    • LiveWire Sprouts (PreK & K)
    • LiveWire (1st - 5th Grade) and Aftershock (Open gym play for kids waiting for parents to arrive or finish choir rehearsal.)
  • VBS:  Summers (Typically second week in June)
  • CHILDCARE:
    • For Small/Life Groups
    • Special Church wide Events

How can I volunteer with students?
If you have a heart for the gospel to be take root in the lives of students (6th-12th Grade), or  you had positive youth ministry experiences when you were a teenager and would like to use your God given gifts to encourage and support the spiritual development of the next generation, then please connect with Pastor Aaron: aaron@wsbc.info.
  • SUNDAYS:
    • HSM: Students (9th-12th Grade)
  • WEDNESDAYS:
    • MSM: Students (6th-8th Grade)

Already a Children's Ministry Volunteer?

We use Sign-Up Genius so that all volunteers can manage the balance between their person schedules and how often they can serve at WSBC on Sundays in the Nursery, PreK and wsbcKids Children's Ministry.
