WSBC Youth, Children's, and Nursery Ministry Internship

Are you a college student or young adult passionate about helping kids and teens grow in their faith?

Western Springs Baptist Church (WSBC) is seeking a Youth and Children’s Ministry Intern to join our team for Summer 2025! This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on ministry experience in a Christ-centered, gospel-driven church community that values discipleship, service, and spiritual formation.

Position: Youth and Children’s Ministry Intern
Location: Western Springs Baptist Church – Western Springs, IL

Dates:
Summer: Late May – Early August (Flexible Start/End Dates);
Fall: Mid August- Late December;
Spring: Early January - Late May;
Full School Year:  Mid August - Late May

Hours: 20–30 hours per week (includes Sundays and some evenings)

Compensation: Paid stipend (amount determined upon hiring) and/or for validation of service for internship credits from their respective university/college

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and leading weekly youth group gatherings (middle and high school)
  • Support Sunday morning children's ministry (nursery through 5th grade)
  • Build relationships with students through mentoring, small groups, and events
  • Help organize and participate in VBS, retreats, service projects, and other summer programs
  • Attend and assist with staff meetings and ministry planning
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and creative programming
  • Maintain a Christ-like attitude in all ministry interactions and model spiritual maturity
  • Youth Ministry Candidates who play an instrument and can participate/lead worship for will be preferred

Western Springs Baptist | The Village Church is an unaffiliated Baptist church with a strong scriptural and evangelical emphasis. Our congregation is diverse in its background and traditions. Our church strives to be a friendly, caring community of believers that functions as a family. We have ministry for and by all ages with multigenerational interactions. We seek to strengthen and support the families within our congregation through our ministries and programs while reaching the families in our community. We seek to be a place of healing in Christ's love for those who are hurting and a place of growth and equipping for service in Christian living. While our faith in Christ and relationship with God is individual, we uphold the importance of learning, growing, and serving together as a congregation for the sake of the Gospel. 

Western Springs (incorporated in 1886, www.wsprings.com) is located approximately 15 miles west of downtown Chicago, with a population of 12,500 living in 2.32 square miles. Congregation members reside in many of the surrounding suburbs, reflecting the diversity of the wider suburban area. The church has a history of welcoming attenders and participants from multi-cultural backgrounds. There has been a consistent membership of 250-300+. Approximately 65% of the congregation are active volunteers in church ministries, 80% are regular weekly attenders.
